Looks like after the first 2 game changing films, they sold off the franchise to a straight to video company. No actors from the 1st 2 films are in this, only unknowns chasing a lame storyline. How anyone can rate this higher than part 2 beggars belief. The effects on this film doesn’t compare in the slightest to parts 1 & 2. Low budget trash. Just enjoy 1 & 2 then leave!

Unlike the second installment, "Return of the Living Dead 3" is a completely different film from the original. It is no longer a horror comedy but rather a zombie romance, which is something you don't see very often. If you wanted to give your horror series a new coat of paint, Brian Yuzna was certainly not the worst choice as director in the 1990s. The practical effects are once again strong, with one particular zombie standing out in combination with lots of sharp objects. Otherwise, however, the acting is rather uneven apart from the romance at the center of the story, the 90s direct-to-video look is not exactly appealing, and the narrative pace is not always ideal. But the film managed to regain my attention time and again, and it also has a thoroughly fitting ending. In this regard, I give "Return of the Living Dead 3" a clear recommendation.

Returning to the dark tone of the original, _Return of the Living Dead III_ brings back the gore and violence. The story follows the son of an Army base commander as he uses a barrel of Trioxin to resurrect his girlfriend after she dies in a motorcycle accident, but before long the hunger for flesh starts to overtake her. The acting is universally bad and makes it hard to get into the film. However, the prosthetic work is pretty good and creates some ghoulish looking undead. An intriguing chapter in the series, _Return of the Living Dead III_ has some interesting ideas but it fails in the execution.
