I like this lore build up
Ignore the cheesy beginning, as it gets better as it goes on. Better than the first one. They’ve even copied the dinner table scene from Texas chainsaw massacre.
Inbred cannibal mountain men ravaging thru the forest to kill the stars and crew of a reality TV show? Sign me up. Blood, gore, gross scenes and some dark humour. And a Temu Rambo thrown into the mix.
Initially the cringeworthy dialogue and characters make you want to turn it off, but it's paired up against the entertaining and gory 'battle royal interrupted' story, barely making you stick with it. And it ends up being a good choice! Because even though this is all very dumb and cheap, and the characters are all beyond annoying, it has great pacing and entertaining twists, apart from the usual buckets of splatter. Henry Rollins is so, so bad, and that can be a plus or minus depending on how you see it. A great choice for your mindless-horror-drivel needs.
if Wrong Turn was speedrunning into the meta "we're self aware/fun :crazy_face::crazy_face:" sequel thing on only the second go around i'm really curious about what else is coming. with this being last one that i had already seen, we're in uncharted territory from here and on. never really jumped out to me, even when revisiting it just days ago but this really makes me appreciate how likable (or at least palatable in their blandness in some cases) the characters of the first film were? in that one i found the main four characters likable enough in their own ways meanwhile i'm lucky to find two here with a larger cast. add in the mid/late film shift to the tired abandoned factory setting, the ugly 00s humor, and so forth to lose me even more. maybe not a complete shitshow but this is already a massive step down from the first. this series is going to be a fucking mess lmao.
