>"Satan's greatest trick was convincing the world he doesn't exist." I think this movie is an underrated movie for Arnold. Most people I talk to don't even know about it, and while watching this again I realized it wasn't a straight-to-dvd movie: It actually had a big budget and an interesting story. They don't shy away from talking about Satan and the horror element was great. Gabriel Byrne is the star of the show as Satan himself.
Underrated Arnie movie. People hate on the ending, meanwhile I'm shedding a tear.
Horror is not exactly the first genre I think of when I hear the name Arnold Schwarzenegger. But when you watch “End of Days,” you quickly realize that the script was obviously rewritten to include some typical Arnie moments even if they don't really fit here. Ultimately, it's a relatively obvious rip-off of films like “The Omen.” The production is typical of the late 90s, and the effects haven't exactly aged well. But Schwarzenegger always wins me over to a certain extent. In any case, here he still has the look and charisma required for an action star. However, he has never been a good actor when it comes to dramatic moments. This definitely backfires on him in “End of Days.” For fans of Arnold, however, it's still fine.
End of Days was not really my favourite back when it was released, and it's not really a favourite now either. It's a bit better than I remember, though. This take on the stupidity that surrounded the millennium was actually quite good, and the acting was actually quite decent. It still lacks some in the execution, though. It all seems a little rushed. But...I didn't end up bored, so I suppose that is a good thing. ...and seeing big Arnie getting his ass handed to him by a little old lady was actually quite fun.
Yeah….nope. Great premise, mediocre execution.
