The first eight episodes of this are 100% paint by numbers fantasy/adventure series, with above average artwork & animation. If you can't make it through that first 8, then it's not going to be worth watching for you....if you can though, the story does get a bit better...but the dialogue never really improves, unfortunately. One thing I did thoroughly enjoy was the modernization of this anime, even though it was set in the typical sort of fantasy medieval times. The adventurers are streamers, and there are magic tablets, aka TV's, all over the place. It was a cool concept, and I'm hoping it's something that we start to see more of going forward. I just don't know why the MC has to be so cringey! They also lean into the worst trope in anime, the MC being scared of his own harem. There are definitely more prudish MC's out there, but Yuke is certainly high up on that list. The harem was diverse personality-wise, but you'll recognize each of the character types from any assortment of fantasy/adventure anime out there. There also isn't much character growth other than everyone falling in love with the MC. That said, this had its moments...but it's really not anything to write home about.

I like the overall concept and the worldbuilding is decent, but the way the characters speak and the dialogue in general come across as really childish and awkward—especially how they constantly say each other’s names at the end of every sentence, often with an odd pause. It could’ve been a decent harem otherwise. The story is also fairly predictable but that’s to be expected in anime like this.

Whoever mixed of the audio for this series made the music so overpowering you can barely hear the sound effects when theres silence, completely inaudible when music is playing.. punches, running, falling, etc aren’t coming through properly. Good show otherwise.
