agreed, woody being woody is magnificent...shame he isn't in this more but worth a watch for his bit parts.
To Rome with Love is a pile of crap that proves once again how inconsistent a director Woody Allen is. Basically the film is an anthology of stories that take place in Rome, but the stories are all insipid, inane pieces of tripe. The cast has a lot of talent, and includes Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Alison Pill, and Ellen Page; but the performances are as dull and uninspired as the material. Shallow and vapid, To Rome with Love could quite possibly be Woody Allen’s worst film.
I facking loved it ! I just don't know why it is, completely out of any logic but I watched it with a smile on my face !
As Roger Ebert said, even mediocre Woody Allen is better than no Woody Allen. When you try to create something sometimes it doesn't quite pan out. I really do think there was a better film here but I'm not sure what it would be.
It's brilliant, and I really appreciated that Italians actually speak italian in the movie. I loved that every little story had a higher meaning. My favorite was the architect's one, cool concept!
