Pretty decent buddy cop flick. The chemistry between Crystal and Hines is great. Though I kinda wish they did open that bar. Fun movie.

"Running Scared" is a textbook example of a buddy cop movie from the '80s. This is true of the music as well as the plot and the characters. As a result, don’t expect anything groundbreaking, but the most important factor in a movie like this is the chemistry between the main characters anyway—and here, it’s outstanding. The two cops, Ray (Gregory Hines) and Danny (Billy Crystal), really do seem as if they’ve been friends for ages. And that’s what makes the movie entertaining, allowing you to overlook the lack of suspense or the somewhat generic—albeit solid—action sequences. If you're looking for a classic buddy-cop comedy, "Running Scared" is a great choice.

NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THIS MOVIE ANYMORE! Why? It is a great mix of action and comedy and has likable leads. If you haven't seen it, check it out...if for no other reason to see Billy Crystal as an action hero and experience non-CGI stunt sequences.

"In this neighborhood, a Mercedes is probable cause." Jimmy Smits, Joe Pantoliano and Jon Gries are in this? Never expected to see them in a Peter Hyams 80's buddy cop movie. Running Scared isn't anything like the Paul Walker one. I always thought that was a remake and I should be ashamed. Here we have Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal showing us amazing chemistry. On par with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon series. I bet Running Scared inspired some of Lethal Weapon. Anyway we get two Chicago Police Officers (Hines and Crystal) who want to bring down the drugs dealer played by the great Jimmy Smits. They even find time to buy a bar out in Key West and we even get a montage. We also get a great soundtrack, a car chase along side train tracks, a shoot-out and a lot of great, great banter. Running Scared lives off of the chemistry between its two leads and they are good for it. I was expecting Running Scared to have been logged way more then it has been over here on Letterboxd. A lot of people are sleeping on this one, I'm happy my alarm clock went off today!
