This “version” of Assault on Precinct 13 is certainly not as good as the original, but I'm pretty sure if this had some other title, it would have done quite well for itself. There's tension, there's action, there's great chemistry among the leads, there's great atmosphere, and there are even some sexiness thanks to Drea de Matteo. I like it enough to rewatch it from time to time. I actually rewatch it more than the original now that I think about it. Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) is a decent enough action thriller, and worth the time investment in my book.
Mediocre action flick that has nothing special to offer.
>"I want to live; as opposed to I don't want to die." On it's own it isn't the worst thing ever, but since we have an original to compare it too... oof. While the original one has a creepy vibe to it, this one almost feels like a mockery of it and trying to make it feel too cool.
Thrilling and action-packed, _Assault on Precinct 13_ is a well-crafted and smart remake of the John Carpenter classic. When a prison transport is diverted on New Year’s Eve to a shutdown police station that’s short-staffed, a group of corrupt cops lay siege to the building in order to kill a Detroit crime lord that was on the transport. Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, and Gabriel Byrne form a strong cast and give great performances. Additionally, the action scenes are incredibly well-shot, and bring a lot of intensity and energy to the film. Exciting and adrenaline filled, _Assault on Precinct 13_ is an explosive crime thriller.
