The first sequel to "Beverly Hills Cop" is practically on par with the first part. The story is once again rather formulaic, but thanks to Eddie Murphy in top form, this is hardly a problem. In fact, the interplay between Murphy's Axel Foley and his sidekicks Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton) works even better. Meanwhile, the villains remain weak, as in the previous movie. I'll probably never understand why Brigitte Nielsen was a star in the 1980s, but she's not really a problem here either. Because Axel Foley's quirks alone are enough to carry the movie effortlessly.
A fun film, full of the cunning of Detective Axel Foley. Even though it may seem a little forced at times, it is still extremely funny. However, the voice acting change to Axel Foley was disappointing; his voice didn't match well. Despite this, he delivered great scenes.
"Technically, this is traffic duty." Hahahha... way to go Taggart.
As far as sequels go, it's pretty good. Follows in the similar vein as the original. The plot is nothing complicated, but it just gives enough reason for Eddie Murphy to return to Beverly Hills. It is completely his film though, as he is on point once again in a hilarious performance.
While the first movie is a timeless classic, this sequel has not aged well. I give the original 9 and this is 6 at best. probably should be lower. The first one had an interesting story and the power struggle was the strong point. This sequel is a total mess in every aspect.
