What makes this movie feel so fresh is how it rejects the tired modern horror trope of defeating ancient evil with ordinary human weapons. It returns to a fundamental truth where evil cannot be beaten by secular means. Because the devil is real, the movie rightly acknowledges that only God’s power can truly repel it. Seeing Tyler and Maddie rely on faith and the protection of Saint Christopher to stand against the demon gave the movie a sense of spirituality that is sorely missing in movies these days.

An interesting premise built around religious themes and demonology, but executed rather poorly. The film offers a few genuinely tense and unsettling moments, supported by a reasonably decent sound design, strong lighting, and effective cinematography. At the same time, it relies too heavily on jump scares and familiar horror clichés. While the story manages to hold the viewer's attention, its repetitive structure, uneven dialogue, and predictable character decisions prevent the film from fully realizing its potential. Ultimately, Passenger is a fairly enjoyable, though not particularly original, horror movie.

Lo mejor de Passenger fue… passenger, la canción en los créditos. Qué temonazo. Sinceramente me pareció muy mid. Lo peor es que los primeros 30 minutos me habían enganchado. Me parecía muchísimo más interesante el drama de la pareja, con él queriendo vivir una vida más hippie y libre, y ella buscando algo más estable, una familia, una casa… ese conflicto daba para una película mucho mejor. La idea de llevar todo por el lado de los demonios y la religión me parece buenísima. No es un concepto nuevo, pero es de esas cosas que, cuando están bien hechas, funcionan siempre. El problema es que acá está muy mal ejecutado y nunca termina de explotar una idea que tenía muchísimo potencial. Y otra cosa que no me gustó es que recaiga tanto en el jumpscare. Siento que el terror de hoy ya va por otro lado. La audiencia es mucho más inteligente y busca algo más que un ruido fuerte cada cinco minutos. Como dijo Curry Barker, el público conecta mucho más con un terror que genere ansiedad, incomodidad y tensión. Justamente por eso películas como Obsession funcionan tan bien. También se vuelve muy repetitiva y predecible. Llega un punto donde ya sabés exactamente qué va a pasar. Mid cinema.

It was aright. It had some great jump scares. I laughed at how the demon took 50 business days getting from the back of the RV to the front to get at the FL. The couple made PLENTY of dumb decisions too.
