Nothing burger of a movie
It was an ok movie. They spent so much time on Laura being an alcoholic and the kid hating her instead of the actual monster.
This film leans hard into the surreal and unnerving, and I’ll give it that, if you’re watching late at night, it can definitely get under your skin. There’s a disturbing atmosphere that holds up decently well, but that’s about where the praise ends for me. Visually, it’s extremely basic, no real flair, no standout artistic identity. It feels like it’s trying to be scary more through tone and aesthetic than anything substantive, but without strong visuals or unique style, it ends up just feeling flat. The characters? Completely generic. There’s no development, no depth, you’re expected to care about them, but there’s nothing to latch onto. Just hollow archetypes doing predictable things. It’s like watching a horror template with no personality. I didn’t pick up on any deeper symbolism or meaning, though maybe it’s there beneath the surface. But as a standalone experience, it feels too empty to reward that kind of digging. If you’re in the mood for something mildly creepy and easy to watch, it’s fine, but there are way better unsettling shorts out there. Not terrible. Just painfully mid.
It is watchable, but the characters are very dull, extremely boring. The subject is good, but it could be handled a little better. It is a thriller and mystery-heavy production. The acting is okay, the script is very slow. In short, I didn't like it. It's a below-average production. Still, good luck with your efforts.
