This show has made me realize that I am a sucker for a great best friend. All of the characters in this show were great, but the absolute standout had to be Theron (Seran). I honestly wish he had his own show. The dichotomy between his regular personality, and his fighting personality, was awesome. The MC in this is strong as well, and I love that none of the standard personality tropes applied in this show. The MC kisses the girl, his best friend is a bit of a horndog, though....both of the female leads kind of fell into the trap. Liese (Lize) = best friend who's in love with MC, but can't admit it, & Urza = the tsundere. The artwork was above average, but the animation had moments where it was hit or miss. They made some questionable artistic choices in order to avoid actually animating some of the more complex fight scenes. I imagine for most fans of this genre (fantasy/isekai/adventure) this show is probably around a 7, but for me with how much I enjoyed each of the characters, it was a solid 8. This story could absolutely run for many seasons, so I'm really hoping that we get more. This season of anime is off to a great start for me personally... (Clevatess + New Saga).
The story has such a big potential. A hero regretted he failed to kill the villain. He planned his way determined to finish his responsibility to prevent future disaster. He got new group of friends to support him. Unfortunately, the execution was poor, emotionless, and not even exciting. I don't know who in the creative team decided that it would be a good idea to made this series that way, but I lost interest mid way because there always 1 filler series with similar idea every 2 or 3 filler series and exexuted it better.
New Saga deserves much better ratings. It’s not the anime of the year, the animation and music are pretty mediocre, but wow! The story, atmosphere, and characters are genuinely fascinating and amazing! Especially the character Seran who is really funny. I really hope there’ll be a season 2, because this kind of anime truly deserves it.
Watching this anime felt like sitting through a two-hour tutorial on how to waste potential. Sure, I’ve seen worse, I once survived an anime where the MC's personality had less depth than a plastic spoon, but being “slightly below average” isn’t exactly a flex. That’s like bragging you almost passed the exam but still failed. I’m shocked I didn’t drop it halfway honestly. The soundtrack (or tragic lack of one) killed the vibes so often it felt like the director just forgot to pay the music guy. The relationships were dryer than the desert's sand. Stale, platonic, and as emotionally engaging as a PowerPoint presentation. Not worth the watch. There are bigger, better anime fish in the sea, and this one’s more like a soggy sardine someone left in the sun.
