US-Navy-SEAL und Scharfschütze Chris Kyle wird mit nur einem einzigen Auftrag in den Irak geschickt, er soll seine Waffenbrüder beschützen. Seine punktgenauen Schüsse retten unzählige Leben auf dem Schlachtfeld. Als sich die Geschichten seiner mutigen Heldentaten und der unvergleichlichen Treffsicherheit verbreiten, bekommt er den Spitznamen „Legend“. Doch sein Ruf eilt ihm auch hinter die feindlichen Linien voraus und die Gegner setzen ein Kopfgeld auf ihn aus. Doch der Krieg ist nicht sein einziger Kampf: Der Scharfschütze versucht auch, ein guter Ehemann und Vater für seine Liebsten am anderen Ende der Welt zu sein. Trotz der lauernden Gefahr und seiner daheim wartenden Familie absolviert Kyle vier Einsätze im Irak – ganz nach dem Motto „lass niemanden zurück“. Aber als er dann wieder bei seiner Frau Taya Renae Kyle und seinen Kinder ist, erkennt er, dass er den Krieg nicht hinter sich lassen kann.

People who find this movie patriotic obviously cant read the title...its called AMERICAN sniper...im from Europe and cant see why americans are so against this movie. Its a tribute to the man and all those who didn't make it out of various wars. I find this an amazing movie. Not the best picture I've seen from the Oscar movies but its so much more than that

I absolutely loved this movie. I am not American but my grandpa was in the US Air Force so I have always had tremendous respect for the military. I try to avoid political statements but it’s hard to do so and make an honest comment about this movie. I don’t think this glorified war, or justifies war. I think it tells a great, and mostly true given what I’ve read, story about Kyle and the people in his life.

This movie is about a war hero. That's it. Not about whatever issues some people have with the US, not about war crimes, not about religion, not about global warming or super bowl. Stupid comments... And as such it was amazing. Especially Bradley Cooper.
