Terrible film, with unconvincing actor performances and down right stupid story. The sole redeeming factor is that it compares favorably to Pearl Harbor. The film set might be grandiose, but the film is missing entirely the grittiness of the German film named Stalingrad.

Awesome stuff! amazing film

Based on true events, _Enemy at the Gates_ is a thrilling and suspenseful World War II epic. The story follows a sniper duel between a Russian and a German during the Battle of Stalingrad. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Jude Law, Joseph Fiennes, Rachel Weisz, and Ed Harris, the performances are quite good. Additionally, the directing is well-done and brings a lot of tension and suspense to the sniper scenes. The set designs are also very impressive; giving a realistic feel to city ruins and setting up interesting sniper positions. And, James Horner provides a remarkable score that captures the mood and tone of the film. A fascinating look at the intricacies of warfare, _Enemy at the Gates_ is a powerful film.

A very bad film that may appeal to those who still believe the stupidest lies inherited from the Cold War. The Soviets are shown as cowardly, stupid and monstrous. By contrast, the Germans are shown in their best light, offering to help the Russians under Stalin's vile regime. Nothing could be further from the truth, and a number of clichés have been disproved by historians (one rifle for two, no retreating, Soviet soldiers deserting in droves as if the Red Army wasn't a real army, etc.). The film is anti-communist and not even subtle in its affection for the Nazi regime. The acting doesn't even raise the bar. Watch it just to laugh at the West's view of communism.

Well presented background, interesting story, well played characters... What more could you want?
