It's a bit of a slog to get through, and displays it's amateur qualities front and center. But it's appreciated and a very important film, it broke down doors and took no shit, and changed not only film for African-Americans but film as a whole. It's not properly acknowledged for the waves it made in independent cinema. It may not be the fun and over-the-top good times of the Blaxploitation films it spawned, but it's still essential viewing.
Although it has historical value, it is the worst film we have seen at Cine Paco, with out-of-focus shots, night shots where you can hardly see anything, strange framing, a tiny budget, and poor editing, filming, and acting.
Hard to evaluate due to the poor quality of the print I saw. This is something I wanted to like more than I did, but it's all more enjoyable in theory than in execution.
