Better than the first movie. Fights, drama and humour are well balanced in this sequel compared to the original in which there was few action and more drama. Plot is more articulated and original, thanks to the setting too (the russian prison is way more interesting than the generic US prison of the first film) Characters are way better, more interesting and charismatic. Maybe Chambers is portrayed too much as a good guy in this sequel, and the morality is less blurred and more defined, with Chambers as the innocent victim who fights for a good cause and Bokya and the russian mob as the evil guys. Also the ending is too sentimental for an action film. Some memorable scenes, like the one with Chambers outside in the snow. Fights are great with good choreographies and direction. The only flaw is the shortness of the final fight, i would have preferred a longer and suspanseful duel.
This movie does not take it self too serious and that helps it in my opinion. Better than the first movie, this one is a fun action movie to watch in a afternoon. The plot is quick and sets the stage rather simple. Besides the action, it has some funny bits.
This is basically a prison-yard, bargain-bin Rocky built almost entirely to get Michael Jai White and Scott Adkins into a ring, and honestly, that’s enough. White is a terrific fighter and Adkins is equally fantastic as his Russian nightmare opponent, but the movie clearly knows the real reason anyone pressed play: the fights. The plot is thin, the villains are weak, and the whole thing has such a strong ’90s action vibe it practically smells like a Blockbuster shelf. Still, it’s fun, occasionally a little touching, and probably the movie that announced Adkins as more than just background muscle. It takes a while to get to the good stuff, but once it does, it delivers.
I do love the Undisputed movies with Scott Adkins as Yuri Boyka this have been my favorite movies of this kind (fighting)
“It's cold as a motherfucker out there” Man, I love me some Michael Jai White! ... and Russian prisons ... And cheese! Scott Adkins is a beast!
