This makes the third Miike I watched this year, he just never stops! The movie pairs his love for the Yakuza together with the bizarre. It doesn't take too long until you have Yakuza vampires, Kappas and doom in form of a frog zip-up costume on screen. It's all silly fun but could have used a trim in various places. More for those familiar with Miike than newcomers, else he would have needed to put a bit more though into all this. No idea why this screened at Cannes though.
