Some creepy scenes, but this is more of a family drama and comedy. Not great, but mostly enjoyable.
This movie is insane, and I haven't seen anything else like it since _Crazy Lips_ (2000). For this one, that is not a positive. This movie is a train wreck. It's not even a story, it's three stories jammed together. It starts off okay, like so many other J-horror movies. Then it jumps to our lead, Yuko; she proceeds to break the fourth wall, so we can get an exposition dump. Now, Yuko is played by Chiaki Kuriyama - the most beautiful Japanese girl ever - and she's the only reason I wanted to watch this. Lucky for me, she's in almost every scene. Trouble is, the direction really ruins all of this. So, what's the problem? Well, if this were just about Yuko going to cosmetology school and living her life, I would have been okay with that. If it had been about a creepy dude with a hair fetish who has a cursed corpse with evil hair, I can handle that - I mean, it's not even a new idea! Simpson's did it! See the Treehouse of Horror episode, Hell Toupee. Did this movie inspire _Bad Hair_ (2020)? Couldn't tell ya. What I do know is that shoving a story about an abused little girl into this was so out of place, that it was gross. The tonal shifts within are so jarring, and it's a real shame, because if this had simply been a silly horror movie, it could have been good. I cannot recommend this. If you're a fan of Chiaki, I guess, roll the dice. I'm glad I watched it, just to see her in a large role, but at what cost?! At what cost?!
I always told you I was a gentleman, but I can't quietly stand by after that. Señorita... >:)
Not exactly a horror movie but odd enough to be enjoyable.
