I would give this a "7" (Good) rating with the exception that so much of the movie was in Vietnamese; with no Vietnamese subtitles, it was impossible to follow much of the film and you had to guess at what was happening (and even then, most of it was completely lost unless you're fluent in that language). As a story, I found this one better than the first and second although - just like the first two - this one also had holes in the plot big enough to drive a truck through. There were some absolutely unbelievable (and I don't mean _unbelievable_ as in **GOOD** but _unbelievable_ as in **eye-rolling "Seriously? You expect us to believe that?"** moments but I don't want to add any spoilers so just suffice it to say, the STORY was good but the execution was sorely lacking. Again, I enjoyed this one more than the first two - I think Berenger pulled off his role better here - but it was quite frustrating to not understand so much of the movie. **NOTE** There may be other ways to watch this WITH the Vietnamese subtitles; I watched it on TubiTV and they had English subs but nothing for the foreign parts.
This third movie maintains the quality of its predecessors. I really liked the emotional development, especially because the story feels more personal for Thomas Beckett, as he’s forced to confront someone who was once his friend — and someone who once saved his life. Honestly, I’m not sure what to expect from the next sequels. There’s a real risk of stretching the story further than it needs to go and damaging what has been built so far. Beckett is clearly no longer at his peak; he seems tired, worn down, and perhaps deserving of some rest after everything he’s been through. That said, it’s a great movie, and I definitely recommend watching it.
