ليس كل الملائكة أبرياء.

Watch if you don't mind two giggly female characters running through the trees like Disney characters to music. It tries to be charming and endearing, but it's based on two real killers. There are no rules to say it can't be such a way, but it was overall bad story telling. I'd have rather have seen what made them the way they were. Illness? Apart from them ridiculously pretending to have a baby with a pillow, was there much psycological story telling at all? The bond has no intensity or insanity. Not dark enough. This is a glamorised romantic murder story. The characters were quirky. The dialogue was mostly filler in plots that's didn't develop character, but ended up in romps or the two girls being upset. Winslet is wooden in this. If you want to watch a killer lesbian duo based on an old true story Sister My Sister is better.
I saw this movie on the category of "sapphic movies" like wtf??? It was supposed to tell the history of a true crime, not the "love story" between the two women involved! What's next, a romantic sapphic movie about how Suzane Von Richthofen and her wife met in prison?
The movie was okay, I couldn't say I was terribly drawn to it. It did feel like a snooze for awhile. It is quite sad what happened to her and it was interesting see a pair grow such an obsessive and intense bond especially in the lens of an optimistic-esque "love story". I must admit it was more interesting reading up about the case rather than the movie itself—not to say I didn't enjoy Melanie Lynskey or Kate Winslet's work here, I thought they were the best part of the film... but I don't think there's much competition for that here. I also must point out how I love the casting for Juliet's mother—Diana Kent looks like she would actually be Kate Winslet's mother so much that I had to google it myself afterwards. But yeah the film was okay—
wish it went over more about the murder and trial at the end although I thought the ending scene was decent.
I think maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this one? I don't know.
Rest in peace Honorah Parker.
[6.5/10] I went into _Heavenly Creatures_ not knowing what to expect, and by the end, I found it hard to form a really solid opinion. It’s certainly an intriguing story and a fascinating friendship to explore, and I think the film does a good job of showing the strange, obsessive relationship between the two girls. The pairing of Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet felt mismatched somehow, but it wasn't necessarily bad. It seemed they both really took their roles seriously and I imagine it was an extremely rewarding and memorable experience for them, especially considering this was their film debut! After learning more about the real-life events between Juliet and Pauline, I can see where some liberties were taken for storytelling purposes, but Peter Jackson still grounded the film in a LOT of factual detail. He and Fran Walsh did a good job bringing this bizarre story to life. I did enjoy the whimsy, in particular. Still, I found the story itself unsatisfying by the end. It’s wild to think that Pauline's identity is still a mystery, while no one uncovered Juliet's until right after the film was released. Obviously, I didn’t walk away loving this film, but I am glad I watched it. And I would still recommend it to certain people (especially fans of true crime and feminine coming-of-age stories).
