[Berlinale '26] More than an epic saga, it's constructed as a personal story and an internal process of recognizing one's origins, and in this sense, perhaps the geographical possibilities of the Karelian forests aren't fully exploited visually. But a sense of internal epic works well as a vehicle for entertainment with a certain philosophical depth surrounding origins and a sense of belonging, somewhat in the manner of Shakespearean historical dramas, and for those unfamiliar with Kullervo's story, it's a film that never loses its balance.
