In the 80s and 90s, Hunting Season would be in the box office top 10 rank on it's premiere. Nowadays, it's just one of the many streaming release. Too bad, there is no box office system implemented for streaming services due to the complex calculation of p&l. Anyway, considering how low budget this was, Hunting Season did good with the storyline, script, acting and actions. Mel Gibson still has his star making acting prowess. Without Gibson, this film would fall under the radar. Because of his directoral experience, Hunting Season has a very thick Gibson's signature influences. Letting the story played priority role instead of actions, violence, CGI or sexual scenes. The audience did get to understand the story and emphaticed with the good guys and loathed the bad guys No woke, no DEI, no alphabet mafia influences. Far better quality film than the big studios. A good film the way it should be.

Solid, slow-burn, low budget Thriller with a good Mel Gibson, who levitates the production. The story doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it’s refreshing to see a decent movie without excessive use of CGI, without stretching the plot unnecessarily, but to keep it within 90 minutes, and without ignoring the physics in action scenes, but keeping the shootouts straight and short. A fair movie.

A decent classic action movie about an older guy who is challenged and reveals that he is more than meets the eye when it comes to protecting his family. Decent action that tries to get some depth in the story, which it succeeds to do at times. Only the ending feels like they suddenly ran out of budget, which made me hesitate between 6 and 7 stars. A movie for fans of classic action, Gibson and light entertainment.

I enjoyed this movie. Some intrigue, some action, and retribution. I enjoyed the relationship between Bowdrie and Tag, a good solid family, with one lie from Bowdrie.. 🙈. Well worth a watch. 👍

Really enjoy this movie. It seemed like Mel had control over the script, making it about family and survival.
