Bro can Trakt please fix these release dates
This is simply TOP TIER Dexter season, really right up there. It shows that the people who made this put in a lot of thought and worked out the kinks and avoided cliche' pitfalls and lazyness. The protagonist has smart and capable antagonist and rivals to actually challenge him. We have great supporting characters with good arcs. Very nice to see familiar faces from before. Only downside is actors trying to hide their age and signs of the time passed. We like you as real as you are!!
10 episodes is way too little time to properly handle that ambitious story. As a result the characters are flat, a lot of the tension is forced, the chases are weak, a lot of things are not very believable. The finale is messy and full of holes. The show has the artificial feeling of a marvel production, while the original was personal and somewhat relatable, this is the opposite. There is no time to connect with the characters, which was what made Dexter so good. This is just cheap with sloppy characters. Eric Stonestreet is pretty great, but he is the exception. That famous cast is wasted, Thurman, Dinklage, Ritter, Harris, all so forgettable. Harrisons Girlfriends are irrelevant for the story. The Detective is especially bad. The actress sure is good, but the character she’s playing doesn’t give her a chance. The former Cast members that are sprinkled in do nothing for the show. The twists are fabricated and unrealistic. I watched it for nostalgia and because I wanted it to be good, even though it was obvious that it wasn’t from episode two. Could have been both, good and nostalgic, if the writers wouldn’t have to put in so much in so little time.
3 Episodes in, problem is it feels like the way Dexter would be written in a comic book. It also has some massive holes, not the least of which is he killed a police officer at the end of new blood and that wasn't even addressed. For my take, although watchable, this is the worst of the shows in the franchise, at least so far.
Watched the first two episodes so far. I'll pop back to edit once the season is done. But so far it is amazing. I haven't enjoyed a Dexter episode so much since trinity. It feels like early Dex, not like the later seasons like apocalypse or others but proper dex. I cannot wait to see how it unfolds. I consider myself optimistic but cautious at this point.
