This was ok when it came out in 1999. It's no longer the case.

Not ever!"* ***Deep Blue Sea*** has everything it needs to be part of the quality shark genre: unrealistic trash shark effects, ridiculous 90's CGI kills, slow-motion action sequences and laughable everything (acting, dialogue...) It at least has a great premise (for a shark movie) basically an experiment goes wrong and the shark gets smarter. A super shark sounds great to me. A surprisingly good cast listing for a shark movie. LL Cool J has a parrot and he's got some of the coolest scenes. Samuel L. Jackson is very serious and does some extended monologues which is hilarious (not sure if it was intended that way though, probably not). Lots of action and explosions. The set is pretty decent. Not the best tension but it has it's moments and the third act was epic. A decent fun watch, especially when Cool J is in a scene. I'm disturbed by the sharks having yellow teeth in some scenes. 6/10 (first and second watch)
