Wow...and not in a good way, either. This was so hilariously bad I almost... _almost_ ... have no regrets about sitting through it. Almost. On the plus side, there's the fact that it's barely over an hour-and-a-half but oh my gosh, that 96 minutes has to be some of the most god-awful acting, dialogue, scripting, camera work, and "special effects" (that looks like red paint, silly putty, and rubber toys from a five-and-dime store). From the opening sequence of the wraparound story, this was just plain BAD...and the three "mini-stories" that made up the core of the film were just as bad, if not somehow even worse. Dialogue in places consists of (lady cop pointing her weapon at an unarmed citizen and screaming, _"I wanna get down below; I want to get down now!"_ You heard it here first, folks: Yes, it's that bad. So so soooooo many awful things about this entire film that, in places, I was actually laughing...but I don't think you're supposed to do that when it's an H.P. Lovecraft horror movie, right? In any event, it may be Lovecraft, but it's 32 years old now and definitely shows its age. This is just bad by all accounts; there's no defending it, no protecting it, no justifying it: it's just BAD. Watch it only if you think you can handle the bad easily enough to laugh at it. I'll give it that: it's so bad that it's actually hilarious in places. But if you're looking for something in the "horror" genre, this ain't it. I would advise anyone to give this a hard pass because it's just plain BAD.
