It's flawed that Perseus (Sam Worthington) had a buzz cut. They give him long hair in the sequel but never thought of it in this film. While Ralph Fienes would make a good Hades if they didn't overly Voldermort him. He has the same exact voice. So hard not to think Voldermort. This remake has better effects than the original of course. Also a fine cast. Yet the original is less dull. You'll have more fun if you just watch The Mummy.
Crap of the Titans? Not quite. But at the same time, it's kind of forgettable. As Worthington describes it, it's a "popcorn flick". Take from that what you will.
Hard to believe this movie was made in 2010. CGI at this time was well established but a film like this one would have been an expensive gamble because of all the effects needed for the gods, beasts and monsters so I was pleasantly surprised. A movie like this is purely action and battle so I never expected it to have deep, well developed characters so I appreciated the combat and human-god interrelationship. The disadvantages of the movie were mainly some plot holes such as the other Olympians. I could accept a lot of logical leaps but when a plot hole has the potential to entirely change the trajectory of a film., I tend to roll my eyes. The final battle was also a tad bit anti-climatic. Perseus went to all that trouble to get the head, the people deserve to see him in a slightly more prolonged battle between demigod and kraken. Overall, it was definitely a fun watch. Not a masterpiece in the sense of masterful storytelling, cinematography or character development but sometimes you just want to shut your brain down and watch people go at it😁
I watched it maybe seven or eight times. It came out then. A perfect masterpiece. I loved this genre very much and it also caught my attention. Definitely watch it. Thank you for your efforts.
