I'm not sure what to believe...

Untold: Chess Mates covered a story that I vaguely knew existed, but I had almost no real background on because I don't follow competitive chess. Going in mostly blind ended up helping, as the twists, drama, and personalities involved made for a surprisingly engaging watch. What stood out most was just how crazy the situation really was. Even without being invested in the chess world, the documentary does a good job of making the stakes and controversy understandable. The best sports documentaries are often about people and conflict rather than the sport itself, and this one follows that formula well. I wouldn't call it an essential documentary, but it's an interesting story that I was happy to learn more about. Sometimes that's all you can ask for from a documentary.
