Let me hijack my own comment to update it after all is said and done. This has been one fantastic show that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone that can "stomach" an american sitcom. Over those 6 seasons you will learn to love the characters on this show and miss them dearly when it's all over! But fear not, it has a bitter-sweet end and the show is not ripped out of existence like many other shows. 9/10, would shop there again! ------- Oh god, seems the show won the renewal bingo.... "NBC has renewed @AmericaFerrera's #Superstore for Season 2" :D
Took me a while to match with it, but once I dove into season 2, it's been my summer binge. The characters were so amazingly drawn. They could've easily gone for the archetypes, but they created a truly unique bunch. Top notch new generation sitcom with a rate of zingers per scene that's worth its weight in gold. Seriously, they kept landing jokes right and left even through the final pandemic-striken season. Once they got the train rolling, Superstore has proven to be one of the best written shows of the last years and, to me, belongs in the highest tier of NBC comedies right next to 30 Rock, The Office, Community or Parks & Rec.
Started strong. Ended woke. I couldn't even finish the series.
I rate it "Brett is the most profound, complex and erudite TV show character of all time" out of ten
I know I didn't rate this very high. In all fairness, I wanted to slap most characters. I know it's a comedy and the caricature is strong but everything in this workplace made me want to hit my head against the wall and disappear. Why did I stick with it you ask? Because at its heart, there are characters that are really worth it. Despite their ugliness and meanness, there was also a lot of love and compassion. How do I know that ? Because I wanted season 6 to end so badly and when the last five minutes rolled in, I was bawling like a baby. Now, that's when you know you've done something right. So watch for the characters and get attached. If you don't mind chaotic unefficient hellish workplaces, this is for you.
