This show absolutely brilliant. Not only do we get to see the difficult decisions an secretary of state has to make, we can understand and sympathize on an emotional level that not many tv shows have the choices that Elizabeth McCord (played by a phenomenal Téa Leoni) has to make between doing what is the best thing for her country, and what is the right thing to do.... I especially like the fact that this is not just a tv show about the secretary of state, even though Téa Leoni is without a doubt the star that makes this tv show better by a factor of 10. No, its the supporting cast around her that makes this one of the better political drama tv shows i have seen in years. I can definitely see some love chemistry between Téa Leoni and Tim Daly (the husband Henry McCord). And the characters of the staff of from secretary are definitely being more developed over each episode. This is absolutely one of those shows you need to keep an eye on. It has an intelligent script, an awesome cast, and a subject that is very interesting seeing that there is always something going on in the world, and the USA is always poking its nose where it (more often than not) does not belong....
So I really liked it at first. Like the story, the acting, everything. But then the kids... Not just their acting, it was the lines they had to say. Way to cliché... But what made me stop was the husband. He usually screws things up or acts like a 5 year old and yells nonsense. Being the good wife, she fixes it and all are happy again and the world is saved. If she gets a divorce and files a restraining order against the kids I would watch it again :)
I found this show when browsing, with the review scores hovering around 70%, which gave me the idea that this show would be mediocre. However, after viewing the vast majority of this show, I can confidently say that this was one of the greatest political-themed shows that I have ever watched. For some context, I myself don't consider myself overly political, but this show was very balanced, showing the humanity of both sides of the political spectrum. Of course, the "Madam Secretary" of this show resembles a pragmatic public servant, which I found to be a smart choice made by the writers and producers. As a whole, Tea Leoni absolutely rocked her character, showing immense charisma. This same praise applies equally to the recurring cast, who all play an important part in both the private and public life of "Madam Secretary." In the end, I found this to be an amazing show that I implore others to watch.
Why on earth is Eric Stolz playing her YOUNGER brother when he's 4, and looks about 10, years OLDER than Téa Leoni??
Brilliant! One of the best acted, best written political TV shows.Tea's and Tim's acting chops.Tea was the perfect choice. She can make you feel the emotions of the script every time.
