If you enjoy 8 Out of 10 Cats (Does Countdown), Taskmaster, Would I Lie to You?, you'll like this. The show features a great mix of comedic styles, with a well-chosen cast that bounces off each other brilliantly. Some of the comedians clearly have friendships outside the show, adding to the chemistry. I'm really enjoying the first four episodes and looking forward to the final ones being released.
Incredible line up, especially with Joe Wilkinson, Bob Mortimer and Richard Aoyade. Joe Lycett is fantastic but didn't get to shine really.
What am I actually watching right now? I really enjoy all the comedians but I can't see how this is LOL funny. The Joes, Richard and Bob are legends to me but this series misses opportunities on so many levels. I will finish it to get my Trakt listing completed but I will stick to reruns of 8 out of 10 Cats and Taskmaster before I recommend this.
tldr: Squid Game-esque style; last comedian standing! I really enjoy Jimmy Carr as a host, so when I saw this I knew I was going to watch it, and the fact that Richard Ayoade, Judi Love, Sara Pascoe, and Joe Wilkinson were in this, only made it a bigger requirement to watch! This is a great use of excellent talent, don't let it pass you by!
"10 of Britain's funniest comics"?!! Definitely not! These contestants are totally unknown (to me: as a European watcher), noname "comedians", not funniest and not famous at all. I’m not a UK citizen, but I’m European, so I guess I know more British comedians than people in the US. (Because here, our national TV channels are FULL of British comedy sitcoms and reruns. I know all the well-known ones.) Still I haven’t heard about any of the contestants in this show. I’ve been watching ALL comedy movies (in movie theatres), ALL comedy TV shows and TV-special standups for about 45 years, but these names never popped up for me anywhere. The "funniest comics" in Britain?! What about Ricky Gervais? He was born and raised in the UK, still lives there and he’s maybe the most famous comedian in the world these days. If you don’t agree with this, just accept the fact that Gervais’s Netflix specials and live tours bring the biggest income of all standups ever. So he’s the most famous British comedian these days and he’s definitely the most funny one too. So, who the hell are these losers in this show? Maybe people in the UK know them, but I’ve never heard of them and they are so f*cking boring (untalented and unfunny) in this show, that’s outrageous! I haven't seen ANY real comedians in this show aside from Jimmy Carr. He was actually indeed funny (as always), but he wasn't even a contestant! He's just the host of the show! So, this show is awful: Lame jokes, awkward laughters made by totally unfunny, unknown, untalented people. In most cases they lose the contest by bursting out laughing at their OWN jokes, because the other contestants are so f*cking boring, or: They laugh when a joke (made by someone else) is so incredibly lame, boring and corny, that it’s actually awkward. In those cases they laugh about the awkwardness of the situation. That’s not entertaining, that made me feel uncomfortable! This show is a shame on true, high quality comedy. It’s not comedy at all: just a bunch of bored losers, who laugh at their own miserable, corny jokes. I wasted precious hours of my life by watching 4 episodes of this cr*p.
