This show was great but could have done with ending a few seasons before it did. Shame the last few seasons were so blah.
Yes, the show rather lost its edge after a few seasons in and rather deviated from the original plot. For a show to run for seven and now currently eight seasons with the same plot and setting would be dull (unless its a sitcom). I enjoyed the jaw-hitting-the-floor moments in season 6 and 7, despite it being FAR from the original plot. Personally I prefer Californication over Weeds, but I think Weeds has held up better in the long run, especially having run for two seasons longer.
After being a bit late to get around to Weeds, I am glad I finally checked it out. The first three seasons were remarkable. In a way it was a Breaking Bad premise BEFORE Breaking Bad. It deserves a lot of credit for that. Unfortunately, after season three when they should have ended the show, the show got rid of its theme song and took a step backwards in quality. The charm of the first trio of seasons was never regained after that, but by season six I was still fully invested in its new tone and plot pace. At the end of six was another rather perfect stopping point. Then....there was two more seasons. I'm not saying they were bad, it was just another step backwards from seasons four thru six, let alone one to three. Overall, it is a solid show to check out, but be prepared for the fallout the further you get into it. With weed becoming legal in most of the country nowadays, the plot of this show feels a bit dated (even though they predicted it would be legal by 2022, so kudos to them), but it is still a solid and enjoyable premise. Average Season Review: 7.63/10 Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For Breaking Bad Fans)
After I had a jaw dislocating time during season 6, I finally dropped it! 7x08 was the last episode for me - because it is too f#?*ing boring and neither could I laugh.
Weeds is great, I watched originally years ago but fell off around the time of Esteban. Recently watched all the way through and thoroughly enjoyed it. Admittedly the plot got weaker but the characters were still there doing their typical things. It all still felt cohesive to me and was truly a great show.
