Solo queda 'The Sadness'.

Very good in the gore/violence genre. We'll just turn a blind eye to the fact that it seems to be a virus that was already pretty spread, but just suddenly mutated, in millions of persons at once, all over the country, in a matter of hours or maybe even minutes. Contrary to most zombie-like stories, people here are conscious, they just can't control their very sadistic urges. That makes them smarter, and allows for a main antagonist (the old guy hitting on Kai Ting in the subway) throughout the movie. It is very violent, but reasonably gory. Yes there is blood, lots of blood, but it's not spraying ridiculously everywhere and quantity is normal for the number of victims. The first attack is very graphic (burning oil thrown at face and skin being peeled of), but that's about it. After that there are some stabbing, but the most graphic violence always happens off screen, no close up on body parts being ripped off or internal organs being removed or other stuff usually depicted in this kind of movie. The balance is well maintained, managing to be extremely violent without being too ridiculous or too disgusting. Only intentionally comical part, as a critic surely, is the government intervention, for a little laugh break in the middle. Another good point in avoiding the genre clichés is that the main characters do not act completely stupid, most of their action are rational and compatible with survival. Junzhe part is not really interesting until they meet again, the main story is Kai Ting's. The meeting with the scientist was quite original, bonus points for the babies part. With the (probably mandatory now) jab at people not trusting doctors and fake news. The ending, with Kai Ting being miraculously
immune, even when injected directly
but despite that being
killed off screen by the military
was a nice final touch.
Eye opening horror is not for the squeamish. It's a throwback to the kind of gorefest that was prevalent in the 80s only with more wit and a little more style. I enjoyed the movie but feel guilty admitting it!
I went into this without even reading a plot synopsis and holy crap this movie is insane. Some of the actions that occur and how realistic the effects are in this film would probably make someone with a weak stomach throw up, top notch practical effects all around. It gives Evil Dead a run for it's money when it comes to the amount of blood used. I honestly can't even think of the perfect word to describe the insanity levels some moments reach. If you're not a fan of gore you honestly may wanna think twice about watching it.
Well, now, if blood, gore, mutilation and violent sex/rape are your bag, then you will get a bang out of this splatter-fest. What a hoot! Wow...now THAT was a lot of blood! I've been watching a list of "The 15 Goriest Horror Movies Of All Time" (or something like that; I forget the actual name...) and so far, I've been under-impressed. This, though... This was definitely one for the ages, when it comes to blood, violence, and gore. Granted, it takes a few minutes (I think about a half-hour) to really start getting into things but once they develop, they develop fast and furious (to steal a line from another movie that's probably a bit more well-known than this one!) I wanted to give this one a "9" rating simply because it was so flippin' bloody violent but in all honesty, the lack of a real storyline caused me to ding it a little bit. I mean, if we're being honest, this is a rehashed story that's been done numerous times; this time they just went over the top with it. But yes, lack of originality caused me to ding it a star. Apart from that, however, if truly horrific, violent movies are your bag, then sit back and prepare to enjoy a real feast here. The original language is in Chinese but it's VERY easy to watch with English subs; takes nothing away from the film. The acting...well, that's a laugh: I mean, we're talking about nothing but surviving a bloodbath of viral infections that turn everyone into sadistic, raping murderers, so where's the need for any real cinematic theater in that? LOL Seriously, though, the acting - what little need there was for any - was okay. The opening scene with the couple waking up in bed seemed pretty wooden and awkward, not at all natural like a real couple would be but after that, I mean, honestly...after that, the world blows up and who cares about acting...just watch the violence. I recently watched another movie on that same list that was touted to be _"99 minutes of torture and graphic violence"_ but that was almost laughable. (It actually _wasn't_ laughable; it was very aggravating and a huge let-down.) This movie basically is what I was expecting to see in that aforementioned movie ( _Martyrs_ ). It's not for the squeamish, and it's not for those who are looking for a more "traditional" horror movie. I would "recommend" (and I use the term very loosely) this only to those who are looking for ultra-violent, ultra-graphic, completely sick, twisted, perverted movies with buckets of blood, guts, and gore and who don't really care if the storyline is all that great. This fits the bill perfectly. In the meantime, _"I'll keep an eye out for ya..."_ now has an entirely different meaning.
Everyone who knows the Crossed comicbooks by writer Garth Ennis and artist Jacen Burrows and other writers and artist, knows what's coming: It's not a Zombie flic. It's like 28 Days Later: A mutated virus transforms the infected in angry, violent, no-strings-attached killers, rapists, cannibals and sadists. Unlike in 28 Days Later, the infected are not only in rage and act more or less like Zombies, here, they still remain some human intelligence and can think and talk. The infected can infect others by their blood, saliva or ejaculat. So, the numbers of the infected rise and the fight for survival may begin. Based on actual events, this movie is a dark, grim and very black humorous comment about the Covid-19 pandemic. Good things: The effects are handmade, very practical, a lot of latex, make-up and tons of blood. The original score is electronic, minimalistic and reminds me of the synth sounds from 80s horror movies. The setting is well done, the dark atmosphere builds up slowly. Bad things: Really bad is the main cast, but also some of the supporting cast. Not well acted. Unfortunatelly the bad acting destroys a lot of the atmosphere and tension. Some scenes are not well edited/choreographed (or not well written in the script). Might have been a budget problem. At the final act, the last third of the movie, the story is too constructed, like a deus ex machina. Might also have been a budget problem. Nontheless, this movie is a shocker, very gory and disturbing, but doesn't keep its atmosphere and tension to keep me as a viewer gripped. Movies like the The Crazies remake and Battle Royale are gripping and manage to build up the tension and keep it constantly rising. With better actors, a higher budget, some better editing and some modifications on the script/storytelling, this could have been a blast. The movie is ok for what it is.
