The pinnacle of the director's neurotic production, _La classe operaia va in paradiso_ is one of the most impactful Italian films ever made. Winner of the Palme d'Or for Best Film at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival and several other important awards, this film reconfirms the majesty of the quartet Petri, Pirro, Volonté, Morricone. Direct, ruthless, raw and damn Italian, the film is a brutal critique of the capitalist system of the time, but it does not shy away from poking fun at the extreme left wing of the era. In addition to the aforementioned magnificent quartet, which needs no introduction, Salvo Randone's yet another excellent performance and Mariangela Melato's perfect portrayal of her character are also worthy of note. A must-see.
The original title of the film is La classe operaia va in paradiso.
