Sinopsis
En la Coney Island de la década de 1950 el joven Mickey Rubin (Timberlake), un apuesto salvavidas del parque de atracciones que quiere ser escritor, cuenta la historia de Humpty (Jim Belushi), operador del carrusel del parque, y de su esposa Ginny (Winslet), una actriz con un carácter sumamente volátil que trabaja como camarera. Ginny y Humpty pasan por una crisis porque además él tiene un problema con el alcohol, y por si fuera poco la vida de todos se complica cuando aparece Carolina (Juno Temple), la hija de Humpty, que está huyendo de un grupo de mafiosos.

Wow.. This was a hard struggle to get to the ending. Hysterical Winslet, not so great Timberlake. The only thing I really liked was Juno!

Imagine Tolstoy directed by Neil Simon... and if you think that sounds interesting, you haven't seen _Wonder Wheel_.

Winslet's character is forever complaining she has a headache. It's no wonder; she shouts hysterically for most of the movie. This becomes wearying after a while, as does the movie itself. It's not terrible, but I miss the Woody Allen of Sleeper, Annie Hall, and Manhattan.

But just as I learned from my first husband what love was...... I learned from humpty what it was not. It's not gratitude. It's not company. And it's not going through the motions of lovemaking when... you have so much to give...and no one you really wanna give it to.
