Handlung
Der Rettungsschwimmer Mickey, der in den 1950er Jahren am Strand von Coney Island auf die vielen Badegäste aufpasst, wird Zeuge einer irren Geschichte: Es geht um Ginny und Humpty, die ein Ehepaar sind und Jobs auf der Vergnügungsmeile nachgehen, um sich über Wasser zu halten. Als eines Tages Carolina auftaucht, wird ihr Leben gehörig auf den Kopf gestellt. Die junge Frau behauptet, die Tochter von Humpty zu sein, was an sich schon reichen würde, um den Haussegen mächtig schiefhängen zu lassen. Dummerweise hat sich Carolina aber auch noch auf üble Leute eingelassen – und ist nun auf der Flucht vor Gangstern, die ihr an den Kragen wollen. Denn Carolina weiß ein wenig zu gut über gewisse illegale Machenschaften Bescheid …

Wow.. This was a hard struggle to get to the ending. Hysterical Winslet, not so great Timberlake. The only thing I really liked was Juno!

Winslet's character is forever complaining she has a headache. It's no wonder; she shouts hysterically for most of the movie. This becomes wearying after a while, as does the movie itself. It's not terrible, but I miss the Woody Allen of Sleeper, Annie Hall, and Manhattan.

But just as I learned from my first husband what love was...... I learned from humpty what it was not. It's not gratitude. It's not company. And it's not going through the motions of lovemaking when... you have so much to give...and no one you really wanna give it to.
