[spoiler]This one has taken the position of my least favourite in the franchise (overtaking Brides), despite me being quite impressed by a few things. The three main men were all actually pretty good (Secker particularly) in their performances, and I felt their rising despair and sorrow when it was important. The instigating figure of the young Lord was less impressive, as he was entirely fed by scenery, but otherwise not a big drain as he wasn't there long. The main female lead was surprisingly good at both the 'dame' and the 'unhinged maniac', already unseating a few of the Brides who confused 'feral' or 'menacing' with 'my brain died years ago'. The initial concept - chasing of hedonism leading to this ,and them rapidly trying to fix it but getting outsmarted/outplayed was great as well, and I loved how this was almost an early days slasher with how things unfolded. [/spoiler] However, that's where my joys stopped. [spoiler] The plot was in two hearts at the beginning - one part gothic corruptor, other part Pride & Prejudice cosplay, and these didn't mesh well at all like other entries have done. Dracula was somehow at his most menacing but also his weakest in this entry too. The finale was the least exciting - the 'heroes' won by luck only, there was no showdown, just Drac throwing a tantrum and accidentally walking into something. Then, credits. Genuinely, the finale just suddenly happens out of nowhere - everyone is dead, and everything lost, then boom - the new male lead gets the exposition dump in the final ten minutes, and is then able to race off and solve it, while the occultist couldn't - and this has the added negative of making Drac look stupid rather than outsmarted/outplayed like in prior entries. No payoff for Alice returning home, Secker's son Paul, nothing at all. More threads than ever left open. Overall, this made me realise how much more I appreciated Brides - as at least there it was only 1 main character that seemed to make no sense and was poorly written after a point. Everyone else held their own. I imagine this is the one I'll forget out of the franchise.[/spoiler]

Hammer movie, with the usual Hammer stuff. The revenge thing has been curious, but Dracula's death here seemed to me the weakest

There's some great imagery in this one. That scene of Dracula waking up with his eyes a solid red is iconic. Just an alright Hammer Dracula film otherwise.
