Retrato desolador de la injusticia y el sufrimiento humanos causados por el sistema penal de los Estados Unidos vigente tras la I Guerra Mundial.

I didn't know it and I liked it very much, prison managers don't like it.
It’s compelling, but some beats were predictable. The realism is interesting in its bleakness, but at times it felt almost cartoonish. All things considered: it has some memorable scenes, it's entertaining the whole way through, and the ending is goofy and fun.
Muni's overacting continues to irritate me, but he tones it way down compared to his performance in Scarface. Social commentary movies don't tend to be my bag, but this one excelled because it felt more character-driven than your average Oscar-bait after-school special. This was fine overall, but nothing to write home about.
