Well, not as exciting or as aesthetically pleasing as I hoped or felt I remembered it being, but it was a whooole lot more basically an anti-Nazi vehicle than I was expecting it to turn out to have been, which is fair enough given the proximity to all that, though these days I think it'd be fair to say that kind of thing has completely swung the other way and so the Daleks which would represent the Nazi-types these days would all be orange and dribbling in a Yank accent. Anyway, film was quite poor, and can only hope the sequel serves to restore some of the fondness in my memory I thought I had for them both as a whole. Should also declare the fact I'm not at all a Dr Who fan, I only used to enjoy the Tom Baker years as a younger person, though this barely resembles the series version of Dr Who save for the TARDIS, Daleks, and the name. Side note, that music (around 44 mins in in particular) sounds a lot like the music in the movie Lifeforce. Just sayin'.
I was a bit bored, weird to change some important things since most of it is a direct copy of the first Dalek story (as far as I remember it). Especially the characters calling The Doctor actually Doctor Who. Now I get since he is human in this movie, his last name is Who, but it feels illegal to call him that. As a standalone movie it might be okay but having just watched a bunch of Doctor Who, it feels weird to see this version.
Despite a few differences, this was a surprisingly faithful adaptation of the original story. I actually expected more significant differences.
