Really goes off the rails in the final act in the best way possible. Plenty of explosions, fun robot action.

A couple decent action scenes, effects, and stunts. The Matrix almost definitely certainly probably maybe ripped off the earpiece-wearing agents, trench coats, and shooting a circle through the floor to escape stuff. But the script sucks, the look is dated, and the pacing is dull. EDIT: How did I ever think this was bad, on a rewatch this ruled

I vaguely remember this from when I was in my early teens the youtube channel "The bad movie bible" reminded me of its existence. Though I remember the sequel better. I was expecting to watch the worst movie ever but despite all it's shortcomings I really enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I was expecting a bad movie and maybe because of nostalgia, but it wasn't bad. I think there's enough lore here for a reboot, if they lean into wacky characters. Max was ace by the way.

It's a blend of almost every 80s sci-fi/action element you can think of. It's low rent, but it has that Pyun charm that raises it's prestige. The lead is a perplexing choice, but he's surrounded by soo many awesome character actors that help the movie along. I kind of wish I had seen this back in the day, I feel I would've liked it a lot more.
