Not really good, not really bad. This is a low-budget indie movie. I know this one comes up when talking about mumblecore, but this is just an indie dramedy. As for categories, this is a roadtrip movie. Josh, our lead, is going to collect a chair he won on Ebay. After a huge outburst, he reluctantly agrees to bring along his girlfriend, Emily. Shortly after the trip begins, we pick up another unplanned guess: Rhett, Josh's brother. I did not like Rhett. In fact, I did not like any of these characters. That was really my problem with the movie. The movie is shot in a way that feels uncomfortably close. Like, have you ever been stuck in a situation where you wanted to leave, but had to stay for some reason? Yeah, that's this movie. Again, this is not a bad movie, it was just not a fun time, and I would never revisit it. In a tale with so many - actually, all - unlikeable characters, it's really Josh, and Emily, who are the problem. Everyone else is just there to put pressure on them.
Earlier, I said this was a roadtrip movie, but this is a breakup movie... while on the road. This is less a film and more a PSA for couples' therapy. If you've ever wanted to be stuck in an anxious/avoidant trap with people who don't know how to communicate - that's really weird - this movie has to covered.
I suppose I would recommend this one, but just know what you're getting into. It was not a fun trip, I would not take it again.
