for though it is slow and somewhat sadistic, I liked how the story takes Angelina Jolie seems to have learned from watching directing

An incredible movie of resilience and determination. Heartbreaking and moving throughout it showed a man with an infinite amount of courage, what a soldier and what a man. Angelina Jolie did really well with this movie.

This film was heartbreaking because knowing its a true story.. Jack O'Connell showed some great acting, it kept me clinging from the start, and over all it was super! 6/10

Didn´t know if this was a movie for me, what to expect. I have to admit that it was in part the fact of Jolie directing that peaked my interest. I didn´t know who Zamperini was before the movie and after watching it I can´t say I want to know more about him. This is a kind of movie that has been done a dozen times. It´s a true story so this is what happened, no complaints there. Although I must say it felt to clean at times which might be due to the PG13 rating. Visuals are nice but you expect that today. It´s a good movie in general but all in all not for me.

The life of Louis Zamperini had all the ingredients for a great film. Before the war, he was an Olympic athlete with a promising future. Later, fate put him to the test during World War II, radically changing his life. Angelina Jolie brings his story to the big screen with meticulous direction and a traditional approach, though it doesn’t always achieve the emotional depth it aims for. Technically, the film delivers. The cinematography is well-executed, the combat scenes are striking, and Alexandre Desplat’s score fits perfectly. However, despite its impressive visuals, connecting with the protagonist isn’t easy. Jack O’Connell does a solid job, but the script barely allows him to showcase any dimension beyond that of an unbreakable hero. Instead of a nuanced character, he comes across as an overly idealized figure. The film’s most intense moments, such as surviving at sea or enduring captivity in a prisoner-of-war camp, successfully build tension and keep the audience engaged. Still, Unbroken seems more focused on glorifying Zamperini’s resilience than on exploring his vulnerabilities. Everything feels meticulously designed to inspire, leaving little room to portray the raw humanity of his journey. In the end, Unbroken is an uplifting survival drama that works well enough but lacks something to make it truly unforgettable. It’s the kind of film that captivates while you watch it but fades from memory over time.
