This was a real disappointment. On paper, Holiday of Horrors should have been a slam dunk—I love Tales from the Crypt, I love Christmas-themed horror, and I love short-form anthology storytelling. Somehow, this manages to miss on all fronts. The segments are shorter, weirder, and far less satisfying than comparable anthology horror, rarely giving any idea enough room to breathe or land with impact. It’s not totally bad, but it’s shockingly close to the floor of what still qualifies as mainstream horror content. The creativity is there in spirit, but the execution is thin, underwhelming, and ultimately forgettable. Rating: 0.5/5 – 35% – Hard Skip

Do you remember the Halloween episode from Disney’s Recess? It was an absolute banger but also had that weird ass bicycle segment. Unfortunately holiday of horrors is essentially like said segment with the last chapter being a minor exception, because it is kinda creative. I really do like the formula, but delivering on real horror in a ~8 minute time frame is apparently too much of a task. Would have probably been better with something truly mindless and random, but like that … just a waste.
