Cheesy, cheesy, cheesy, but also fun, enjoyable, maybe exactly because of it's cheesiness. ps: God we dressed bad in 2005!
My favorite wlw rom-com for ten years and going strong. It’s cheesy, it’s sweet, and it actually has a happy ending!!
This movie works better than it probably should for one reason only: the chemistry between the two leads is just undeniable. But it is also subtle - the story doesn't beat you over the head with it. It is just a very sweet and easy-to-watch movie. There is one thing that struck me about this movie: the secondary characters were more than cliches. Whenever there is a rom-com like this you invariably get the wacky best friend that is the cheesy comic relief. In this movie all of the secondary characters had their moments but they weren't in cliched best man speeches. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
I don’t know why I didn’t post a review of this when I first watched it, I gave it an 8 (rewatch worthy) out 10. So, after this second viewing I’ll course correct. I loved this movie. I’m a huge fan of Lena Headey and I think she was wonderful in this. Her character was completely believable. Having just watched THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR it took me a moment to realize the other lead was Piper Perabo and not Victoria Pedretti. (Am I the only one who think they look remarkably alike?) Nevertheless, Lena and Piper have very convincing chemistry. Matthew Goode’s character and performance was perfect. It deepened the implications of the drama. The story is simple and the outcome inevitable but I was okay with that. The supporting cast is some of the finest British character actors. Boo Jackson’s character H was a wonderful bonus. As I’ve already said, I gave this film an 8 (great) out of 10 and see no reason to change it. I will probably continue to rewatch it every few years. [Romantic Dramedy]
This one was unexpectedly nice. The acting felt natural and the story had its moments.
