I decided to watch a movie as I battled some sort of crazed virus that laid waste to me for a day. As I pondered which one of the hundreds of movies in my watchlist to checkout, I started surfing through the myriad of cable channels that I still pay too much for. Then I hit upon a daytime showing of "Something New". This is not a movie that I would normally give the time of day, but my deteriorated state and my crush on Sanaa Lathan stopped me in my tracks. I watched this whole movie and it was as detestably cute and sickeningly sweet as you can imagine. It wasn't really funny, but it certainly seemed like it was a Romantic Comedy as I would imagine they would be since I never touch the genre. Lathan and boy-toy Simon Baker had some real chemistry and there's some moments of racial tension that were surprisingly effective. This is light-years away from anything I would normally watch, but the level of enjoyment I got from it is a little embarrassing. But what the Hell...it helped fight off whatever super bug I was fighting.
