got baited by a clip on insta, watched the whole thing. it sucks... like, it's truly awful. the only thing i took from it is thank god my life's not as depressing as those depicted here
Fun doc. Initially rated this 5/10, but bumped up to 6 after rewatching with the audio commentary (which is great, basically an extension of the movie) R.I.P. Mike and his cool hotline.
Mark has the rare ability to ham it up for the camera while remaining refreshingly genuine. Only can someone isolated in the cold midwest United States cursed with endless creative desires and not nearly enough discipline to achieve them riff such enlightened monologues. The combination of 90’s charm, extended looks at authentic people, and constant hilarious quotable lines make this one of the most rewatchable documentaries.
a year later, hope mike is resting. :v_tone2:
An interesting little film about a guy in rural America trying to make his own film. I think the most interesting part of the film was trying to figure out the main character. He comes across as a sort of well-meaning hustler - I say this because I think in his heart he thinks that everyone shares his vision. Later in the film we see - like so many other hucksters - he thinks that he is a success and that good and decent people around him (who have achieved way more than he has) are beneath him. follow me at https://IHateBadMovies.com or facebook IHateBadMovies
