Tokio, 1943.

Madadayo is a film that leaves you very emotionally with its comedy tone that makes you smile with the stories of the professor and his students. The best part is the relationship of mutual respect between the former students and the professor. This respect is shown in the teacher who is not just a simple professor, but a life coach. The professor is not only the one who teaches you a subject but is also the one who transmits values and pushes you to improve yourself and this film is the exaltation of the relationship between teacher and student, a relationship that is almost morbid at times but tremendously tender. The photography of this film is nothing short of magnificent, the professor's house is masterfully shot making the colors of the seasons stand out with shots that are nothing short of iconic and very reminiscent of Studio Ghibli. A film that is absolutely worth seeing, a film that shows a different Akira in a film that is decidedly rich in dialogue compared to its predecessors, but does not exaggerate with them, they are punctual and spot on.
