Randomly came across this on Netflix and the trailer looked interesting so I gave it a watch and this was really good. It’s a bittersweet coming of age movie about friendship, hope, and dreams. S. Epatha Merkerson and Jurnee Smollett are fantastic in this as is the rest of the cast. I always love seeing S. Epatha Merkerson in shows and movies since she was a big part of my childhood playing Reba the Mail Lady in Pee-wee’s Playhouse. I also remembered Jurnee Smollett as a child actor in the 90’s and I didn’t know she was still acting today. I really gotta watch more stuff she’s been in.
