Like when your mom gives you the Heimlich manoeuver: it's a harrowing experience but she can't stop talking about how she saved your life. This true story of an Iranian university professor of literature who survived the Khomeini regime in 1979 and created a book club with like-minded women is deeply moving when describing the tribulations of women under the fascist theocracy. I wish the story had dedicated its runtime exclusively to this story and slightly less on the back patting. (Golshifteh Faharani and the other Iranian born actresses turn in powerful performances.)
