This is and I think shall always be my favorite Disney film. John Hurt voices the villain brilliantly and Gurgi is awesome.

Released during Disney Dark Age, The Black Cauldron in some ways did almost killed Disney Animation company. The characters except for like Horned King voiced by John Hurt are forgettable and not even the Art and Elmer Bernstein could save this movie. While movie has seems to get popular with fans lately, I’m sort of not in that group but I guess it’s because I’m not familiar with Lloyd Alexander work one.

One of the first most frightening Disney villains, yet, he was defeated in a very foolish way. The characters are all well constructed. Good film.

The movie was far worse than I expected. The main character had very bad decision making and poor voice acting. The main villain was very lackluster apart from the voice acting and definitely didn't have world ending power as everyone claimed. The movie is heavily carried by the beautiful animation and setting.

Loved this movie as a kid and it frightened the hell out of me (like it did to every kid I guess). Watching it all those years later, it's still as scary but I didn't connect to the story or the characters as much. However, at the end of the movie I mainly felt the nostalgia of watching this with my sisters when I was young so I can't give this lower than 4 stars hihi.
