This felt like quite a heavy lift. The costumes and sets were really beautiful and dense--such a lush vision. But the particulars of Italian politics of the era were beyond me and I feel like Visconti forgot to tell a story that would justify such an immense run time. Stultifyingly slow-paced.
Boring to say the least. Hasn’t stood the test of time.
Couldn’t get behind this one just because they were rich and the movie was three hours. Cardinale was pretty but I’d still eat the rich.
The change of power from the nobility to the bourgeoisie in Italy.
I didn't care about the story but I enjoyed it on a visual level (the Bluray looks amazing and I can't imagine how spectacular it must be on the big screen).
