Synopsis
The true story of the Emerson family and the tumult that followed the success of their self-recorded pop-funk album of the same name, which went largely unnoticed until critics rediscovered and reappraised it decades later. This movie feels like finding some old song on YouTube and realizing there’s a whole story behind it. It’s a little slow, but the music and the feeling of chasing a dream are what keep it going.

Is Casey Affleck an a--hole just like his character in the movie? Probably but anyway, still a good movie despite making his character a bit annoying.

I wanted to like this more than I did. The performances are great across the board and the idea of your dream coming true after you have essentially gave up is a ripe premise. The movie as a whole doesn’t quite deliver where it should.
